Heather
MacLeod-Vidal
Heather MacLeod-Vidal, a graduate of The University of Tampa, has worked as a learning specialist for students with dyslexia for the last 7 years. Heather specializes in assisting students with learning differences. She also writes curriculum for students with dyslexia. Heather is passionate about advocating for students’ rights to learn in the best environment possible. Prior to specializing in reading curriculum and instruction, she worked as an elementary school teacher in the Tampa Bay area. Heather lives in St. Petersburg, Florida with her husband, Ryan, and two daughters, Juniper and Florence. When she isn’t writing or working with students, Heather enjoys reading, yoga, and getting outdoors with her family.
Kristina Smith
Kristina Smith has worked in the education field for over a decade. After graduating with a bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida, Kristina became a special needs teacher for Hillsborough County Public Schools. This job led to Kristina pursuing her master’s degree in social work from Florida State University. Upon graduating, Kristina became a psychotherapist to children with various mental health diagnoses. Combining this experience with her passion for helping children with learning difficulties, Kristina began working as a private tutor with Heather MacLeod-Vidal at Treetops Educational Interventions. Since then, she and Heather have used their knowledge and experiences to create a curriculum based on the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching. Kristina currently resides in Panama City Beach, with her husband, Peter. She loves to cook, travel, and watch Netflix.
